January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January is the beginning of a new year filled with what many people think of as a new beginning; the best time for a fresh new start. However, not everyone gets this chance. Approximately “20.9 million men, women and children are trafficked for commercial sex or forced labor around the world today”. As a way to combat human trafficking, President Barack Obama declared January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Today, January 11th, is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, which makes it the perfect start for you to make choices that would positively affect another person’s life. By raising your own awareness of human trafficking you can become familiarized with the signs of when someone is being trafficked . By learning about company’s products you can check if someone was trafficked during the making of it. By watching and reading testimonies of victims you can gain empathy for them. By simply, taking the following survey you could be surprised by how your choices affect another person’s life.
